WE MADE IT! Yes, it has been almost 2 months since our last post and about 8 weeks since we left Dallas, so we thought it was about time to post an update. Kim is settling into her new role at BEE World. We are renting a house and are about 75% unpacked. The kids are enrolled in a charter school in Colorado Springs for the fall, which we think will be a good fit. And Rett got a full-time job at The UPS Store as an Assistant Manager while moving through the application, training, and onboarding process at BEE World. Our friends have been helping with our kids this summer which we are tremendously grateful for, and our kids have been having lots of fun playing outside and settling into a house for the first time in 4 years. River (our cat) has thankfully not been enjoying playing outside. She has been generally content staying inside the house and discovering all sorts of new things to climb (Phew).
How did the move go?
God has graciously provided for us during this move, keeping us and most of our stuff safe. Unfortunately, our Honda Pilot was shot before we left Dallas. The bullet went from one end of the car to the other, going through multiple seats, and hitting both the front and back windshields, and the dashboard. On the day of our move, the other car had a flat tire, which resulted in it needing a tow due to stripped lug nuts. Kim took responsibility for managing the repair as she was still recovering from an illness from the Saturday before and preferred to do anything other than help pack the truck in the very hot weather. Around the same time, the movers we hired showed up to load the truck, but ran away with no explanation, leaving us concerned, confused, and a bit frustrated.
(If you follow us on Facebook, this is the point when Kim posted a request for prayer for our move.)
A few hours later we were able to hire some teens from our neighborhood to help pack our truck, which they did surprisingly well. The next day we ended up leaving a little later than initially planned, but all in one piece, and we had a smooth and enjoyable drive from Dallas to Colorado Springs, yay! When we got here, our friends helped us unload the moving truck and my coworkers at BEE ended up blessing us with all the furniture we needed and wanted, along with a drum set, which my kids were very excited about.
Overall, lots of praise reports in this update, including all requests related to this move and some requests that we have been praying about for over a year, so thank you for your endurance and long-suffering in lifting us up in prayer!
Upcoming
Kim is currently working on a sign-in option for this website/blog so she can communicate more freely about her work and Rett's work in the future. Please be prepared for some form of "account creation" on your part in the upcoming months, with the comfort that help will be available with this process if needed.
From Kim: On a more fun note, we are hoping to do some weekend camping in the mountains next month for one last family hurrah before the school year starts. Look forward to some pictures of pretty landscapes and kids playing in the sand!
I also might do a *not-just-strictly-updates* post on spiritual disciplines in the next month or so (gasp!). My own journey in understanding and practicing spiritual disciplines has involved many ups and downs over the years and I have been thinking lately that it might be worthwhile to share some of my experiences. If you have any spiritual disciplines that you would like to see me write about, let me know! If you are wondering what I mean by "spiritual disciplines," subscribe (at the bottom of this page) for potential future blog posts on the subject.
Prayer Requests
Going forward, please be praying for us to settle into a new church community. We have some great options but we are not yet feeling a sense of peace about committing to a congregation. Also, please be praying for financial provision for our family, again, still... Cecilia got her finger caught in a door and we had to go to the emergency room a week or so before we left Dallas, and Kim is still working with the hospital in regard to the bills, which she finds rather stressful. So, prayers for financial provision and for us to feel at peace with the situation would be greatly appreciated!
As always, thank you so much for your prayers for our family and your encouragement. We wouldn’t have made it this far without you and we want you to know that we truly feel blessed by your continued involvement with our family through the transitions, seminary, and now the first post-seminary steps. We are praying for you too, so if you have any specific requests, let us know!
With all our love,
The Dvorak Family
Rett, Kim, Ryan, and Cecilia

Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”
Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
together they shout for joy.
When the Lord returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.
Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.
