Prayer Request: Wisdom for Financial Stressors, Sleep, & Perseverance!

Praise: Getting through Summer Semester, finding “Spiritual Formation” mentors, and having a good start to Fall Semester.

On a Rock – Seven Mile Creek – St. Peter, MN

Updates:

We passed Summer Semester!!! Kim with all B+s, and Rett with all Bs! (Considering that we completely spaced on one of our discussion assignments… I’m very happy with these grades!

On a Swing – Erlandson Park – Mankato, MN

We started Fall Semester. This includes BE104-Old Testament Prophets, ST104-Soteriology (Salvation Theology), and SF110-Mentored Spiritual Formation (A small group for those off campus).

We are doing BSF this year!

  • Honestly, I was thinking about skipping this year (Even though I love Old Testament studies!) because we already have a FULL schedule. But as it turns out, our spiritual formation class requires that we participate in a local Bible study (with BSF as a recommended option), so yay!

  • Note: BSF has made a few changes this year!

  • The lessons are available online in both PDF and Word format, and the “Notes” are available online too! Best of all they are available in… wait for it… AUDIO!!!!!!!! (I’ve been asking for audio notes for a while, and I’m glad I wasn’t the only one 😉).

We are leasing a new (not just new to us) truck (Ford F-150)!

  • Can you afford that? At some point, we will be asking the people in our lives to assist in providing financially for the cost of our living expenses/seminary/missions work, and because of this, I feel like you deserve an explanation. Much thought and prayer has been put into this decision over the last few months (granted, we weren’t planning to switch vehicles until spring), and considering the mounting cost of repairs for the Honda (this has been an issue over the summer), we believe this will be a mostly neutral (if not positive) change to our budget.

  • The (Brief) Story: Our Honda just about kicked the bucket during our road trip down to Florida (including a leak in the power steering system, that a passing mechanic at a gas station helped to fix). Because we were planning to purchase [the truck we bought] in the spring next year, and because a local dealer had one in stock, discounted, near where my mom lives, it seemed like a better idea to switch vehicles a few months earlier than planned instead of putting more money into repairs for the Honda.

  • Though buying a car was not how we intended to spend our vacation… we have been very blessed by having a new/larger/better gas mileage vehicle, and we are very thankful for God’s provision through the whole process (holding the other car together until we reached our destination, having a truck with the towing requirements that we needed in stock a few miles from my mom’s condo, and connecting us with salespeople who were respectful of our time).

Ryan is starting Kindergarten this week, and CC is starting Pre-School! My current work schedule will also allow me to drop them off, so they won’t have to ride the bus in the morning! This will be a first for us, and I’m very thankful for how much this will simplify our morning routine.

At the Lake – Clear Lake – Clear Lake, IA

We have a bunch of squash and zucchini in our garden. If you live nearby and want some, let me know!

Thanks for reading and desiring to be a part of our journey!
